Loveless

Zhenya (Maryana Spivak) and Boris (Aleksey Rozin), a couple from the upper Russian middle class, are facing the ruins of their marriage. The former affection has long since given way to bitter accusations, the shared apartment is for sale, and both are already in new relationships. At the center of the debacle and at the same time completely off the beaten track is her 12-year-old son Alyosha (Matvey Novikov), whose pain and loneliness no one notices. None of the parents wants to take him with him into a new life, a boarding school is up for discussion. When the accusations between Zhenya and Boris escalate again, Alyosha suddenly disappears, which the police accept without doing anything. As part of a large-scale search operation by volunteers, the ex-partners have to join forces against their will to track down the last thing that still connects them...

This moving story is told in the Russian film 'Loveless' alias 'Nelyubov' by director Andrey Zvyagintsev, nominated for Best Foreign Film 2018 'Golden Globe' (see also in the distribution programme 'The Return' from 2003 and 'Leviathan' from 2014).
