Paul (Lucien Jean-Baptiste) und Sali (Aïssa Maïga) sind ein glückliches Paar. Sie haben einen kleinen Blumenladen in Paris eröffnet und es gelingt ihnen sogar, Salis Familie, die aus dem Senegal stammt, mit hinreichend Traditionswahrung glücklich zu machen. Mehr als alles andere wünschen sie sich ein Kind, seit Jahren läuft der Adoptionsantrag. Eines Tages klingelt das Telefon: der kleine Benjamin könnte neue Eltern gebrauchen. Das Baby ist hinreißend: süß, pflegeleicht und weiß! Paul und Sali sind auf den ersten Blick zwar etwas geplättet, doch sie verlieben sich sofort in den kleinen Racker. Da der liberale Fortschritt der Welt Patchworkfamilien jeglicher Couleur fest etabliert hat, sind sich Paul und Sali sicher, dass schwarze Eltern mit einem weißen Baby offene Türen einrennen werden. Doch als Sali beim Kinderarzt und auf dem Spielplatz stets nur für die Nanny gehalten wird und die senegalesischen Großeltern erst in eine Farbkrise und dann in eine Depression verfallen, stellen sie fest, dass die Welt doch nicht so bunt ist, wie sie dachten. Da hilft auch die misstrauische Dame vom Familienamt nicht weiter, die ihnen in den ungünstigsten Situationen auflauert, in der Hoffnung, den ultimativen Erziehungsfehler zu finden. They have opened a small flower shop in Paris and they even manage to make Sali's family, who come from Senegal, happy with sufficient tradition. More than anything else, they want a child, the adoption application has been going on for years. One day the phone rings: little Benjamin could use new parents. The baby is adorable: cute, easy to care for and white! Paul and Sali are a bit flattened at first glance, but they immediately fall in love with the little rascal. Since the liberal progress of the world has firmly established patchwork families of all stripes, Paul and Sali are sure that black parents will knock on open doors with a white baby. But when Sali is always mistaken for the nanny at the pediatrician and on the playground and the Senegalese grandparents fall first into a color crisis and then into depression, they realize that the world is not as colorful as they thought. Even the suspicious lady from the family office, who lies in wait for them in the most unfavorable situations in the hope of finding the ultimate parenting mistake, does not help. 'Confusingly similar' is turbulent comedy cinema told with a big heart in the best French tradition. Director Lucien Jean-Baptiste and his wonderful ensemble of actors let a multi-coloured spectrum of meanness and tolerance training sessions shine onto the screen. 'Il a déjà tes yeux', the original French title, is a cunning exchange of blows between the human light and dark sides of our time, which amuses, makes you happy and has already become an integral part of the large colourful family album of French cinema.
