Ernst Schmitt (Götz George), kamerascheuer Workaholic und Chef eines multinationalen Lebensmittelkonzerns, ist nicht mehr der Jüngste. Nach seiner schweren Herzoperation bittet die besorgte Schwester Waltraud (Irm Hermann) den erfolgsverwöhnten Unternehmer, sich doch endlich aus dem aktiven Geschäftsleben zurückzuziehen. Auch sein umtriebiger Neffe Marc (Ludger Pistor) kann es kaum erwarten, dass der Onkel ihm die Firmenleitung überträgt, doch dem ist nicht wohl bei diesem Gedanken. Als Marc eine unrentabel gewordene Schokoladenfabrik im Sauerland schließen will, wird Ernst misstrauisch. Die Patrizia-Werke wurden schließlich von Vater Schmitt gegründet und bilden die Keimzelle des Weltkonzerns. Unter dem Vorwand, zur Kur zu fahren, macht Ernst sich mit seinem Chauffeur Hubert Ollerbeck (Karl Kranzkowski) auf, um im Sauerland nach dem Rechten zu sehen. Damit man ihm nichts vormachen kann, lässt er sich inkognito als Fahrer in seiner eigenen Fabrik anstellen. Während Hubert als vermeintlicher Millionär auf Kurzurlaub die Puppen tanzen lässt, muss Ernst für den Betriebschef Thomas Gräber (Pierre Besson) Koffer schleppen...
Unter der Regie von Manfred Stelzer (Ein Engel und Paul) brilliert Film- und Fernsehstar Götz George (der 'Tatort' Schimanski und 'Der Totmacher') hier in einer Paraderolle als schroffer Firmenchef mit Herz am rechten Fleck. Karl Kranzkowski (aus 'Die Frau vom Checkpoint Charlie') harmoniert in der Rolle des treuen Chauffeurs großartig mit George, die charismatische Fassbinder-Schauspielerin Irm Hermann ('Verführung in 6 Gängen') und der wandlungsfähige Ludger Pistor ('Niete zieht Hauptgewinn') runden das Ensemble ab.

Ernst Schmitt (Götz George), camera-shy workaholic and head of a multinational food company, is no longer the youngest. After his serious heart operation, the worried sister Waltraud (Irm Hermann) asks the entrepreneur, who is used to success, to finally retire from active business life. His busy nephew Marc (Ludger Pistor) can hardly wait for his uncle to hand over the management of the company to him, but he is not comfortable with the thought. When Marc wants to close a chocolate factory in the Sauerland region that has become unprofitable, Ernst becomes suspicious. After all, Patrizia-Werke was founded by father Schmitt and form the nucleus of the global corporation. Under the pretext of going to the spa, Ernst sets off with his chauffeur Hubert Ollerbeck (Karl Kranzkowski) to check on everything in the Sauerland. So that he can't be fooled, he lets himself be hired incognito as a driver in his own factory. While Hubert, as a supposed millionaire, lets the puppets dance on a short vacation, Ernst has to carry suitcases for the head of operations Thomas Gräber (Pierre Besson)...
Under the direction of Manfred Stelzer (An Angel and Paul), film and television star Götz George (the 'Tatort' Schimanski and 'Der Totmacher') shines here in a prime role as a gruff company boss with a heart in the right place. Karl Kranzkowski (from 'The Woman from Checkpoint Charlie') harmonizes magnificently with George in the role of the loyal chauffeur, the charismatic Fassbinder actress Irm Hermann ('Seduction in 6 Courses') and the versatile Ludger Pistor ('Niete zieht Hauptgewinn') round off the ensemble.
