'Hip Hop Hood' erzählt die Geschichte Ashtrays (Shawn Wayans), eines jungen Schwarzen, der von seiner Mutter zum Vater ins Ghetto zurückgeschickt wird, damit er dem Sohn dabei hilft, erwachsen zu werden. Gleich nach seiner Ankunft in South Central L.A. sucht Ashtray seine alten Freunde in der Nachbarschaft auf: Loc Dog (Marlon Wayans), Preach (Chris Spencer) und Crazy Legs (Suli McCullough). Gemeinsam ziehen sie los zu einer Party für Toothpick (Darrel Heath), der erst kürzlich aus dem Gefängnis entlassen wurde. Auf dem Fest trifft Ashtray die verführerische Dashiki (Tracey Cherelle Jones), eine ledige Mutter mit einer multikulturellen Kinderschar. Obwohl Ashtray von seinem Cousin Loc Dog vor der mannstollen Dashiki gewarnt wird, kommt diese Warnung zu spät. Ashtray gerät in die Fänge Dashikis und so beginnt eine Reise durch die sattsam bekannte Szenerie der Stadt.

'Hip Hop Hood' tells the story of Ashtray (Shawn Wayans), a young black man who is sent back to his father in the ghetto by his mother to help his son grow up. Immediately after arriving in South Central L.A., Ashtray visits his old friends in the neighborhood: Loc Dog (Marlon Wayans), Preach (Chris Spencer) and Crazy Legs (Suli McCullough). Together they go to a party for Toothpick (Darrel Heath), who has only recently been released from prison. At the party, Ashtray meets the seductive Dashiki (Tracey Cherelle Jones), a single mother with a multicultural group of children. Although Ashtray is warned by his cousin Loc Dog about the man-studded Dashiki, this warning comes too late. Ashtray falls into the clutches of Dashiki and so begins a journey through the well-known scenery of the city.
