Harry Haft (Ben Foster) hält sich nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg in New York mühsam mit Boxkämpfen über Wasser und hat zugleich einen Herzenswunsch: Er sucht seine Jugendliebe Leah Krichinsky (Dar Zuzovsky).
