Peter Cushing shines in one of his best roles, alongside Edward Judd, Carole Gray and Eddie Byrne. To this day, 'Island of Terror' is still considered an example of the classic horror film. The film was censored in Great Britain in 1966 before its theatrical release. In the summer of 2005, the material, which had been lost in 1966, was restored in order to be able to scan it again anamorphically.
