Sieger sehen anders aus. Der Hotelerbe Johannes (Thomas Stipsits) müht sich vergeblich, den Ansprüchen seiner dominanten Mutter, seines geschäftstüchtigen Vaters und seiner selbstbewussten Verlobten gerecht zu werden. Als Versager abgestempelt und bis zur Selbstaufgabe konfliktscheu, gleicht er eher einem geprügelten Hund als einem Erfolgsmenschen. Johannes erlebt einen Schock, als ihm aus Griechenland per Post ein Testament zugeschickt wird. Nun erfährt endlich auch er, was alle wissen und ihm bisher verschwiegen haben: Er ist das Ergebnis eines Urlaubsflirts seiner Mutter und sein vermeintlicher Vater ist 'nur' der Ehemann seiner Mutter. Überstürzt fährt er in die Wahlheimat seines leiblichen Vaters und landet ziemlich verloren auf einer kleinen Kykladen-Insel. Seine Vertrauensseligkeit macht ihn dort zum Spielball im Ränkespiel um sein Erbe. Ilias (Kostas Antalopoulos), Taxifahrer, Bürgermeister und Notar in Personalunion, erzählt ihm das Blaue vom griechischen Himmel und dessen Gegenspielerin, die schöne Rina (Claudia Kottal), verstrickt ihn ebenfalls in ein fein gesponnenes Netz aus Lügen und Täuschungsmanövern. Beiden geht es nur um das Grundstück seines Vaters, das sich sein inzwischen angereister Stiefvater ebenfalls unter den Nagel reißen will. Auch Johannes' Mutter und die Verlobte fehlen nicht, um ihm zu sagen, was er zu tun und was er zu lassen hat. Doch dann geschieht das Unerhörte: Johannes widersetzt sich den Wünschen seiner Umgebung. Zum ersten Mal im Leben hat er ein klares Ziel. Und er ist entschlossen, es zu erreichen.

Winners look different. Hotel heir Johannes (Thomas Stipsits) struggles in vain to meet the demands of his domineering mother, his enterprising father and his self-confident fiancée. Labeled a failure and shy away from conflict to the point of self-abandonment, he is more like a beaten dog than a successful person. Johannes experiences a shock when a will is sent to him by mail from Greece. Now he finally learns what everyone knows and has so far concealed from him: He is the result of his mother's holiday flirtation and his supposed father is 'only' his mother's husband. In a hurry, he drives to his biological father's adopted home and ends up quite lost on a small Cycladic island. His trustworthiness makes him a pawn in the intrigue of his inheritance. Ilias (Kostas Antalopoulos), taxi driver, mayor and notary in personal union, tells him the blue of the Greek sky and his opponent, the beautiful Rina (Claudia Kottal), also entangles him in a finely spun web of lies and deceptive manoeuvres. Both are only interested in his father's property, which his stepfather, who has arrived in the meantime, also wants to grab under his nail. Johannes' mother and fiancée are also not missing to tell him what to do and what not to do. But then the unheard-of happens: Johannes resists the wishes of those around him. For the first time in his life, he has a clear goal. And he is determined to achieve it.
