Weil ihr geliebter Hund 'Todd' zu viel bellt, verlieren Molly Chester und John Chester ihr Apartment. Das Paar verlässt daraufhin die Großstadt und stürzt sich Hals über Kopf in die Verwirklichung eines langgehegten großen Traums: die Gründung einer eigenen Farm. Auf über 80 Hektar in den kalifornischen Hügeln will das Paar mehr Harmonie in sein Leben bringen - und in das Land, das es ernährt.
