Julie (Natalia Belitski) lebt nur nach ihrem eigenen Grundsatz: Nichts tun. Und mit NICHTS meint sie NICHTS: Sie studiert nicht, arbeitet nicht, sie hat keine Freunde. Sie will einfach nur stillstehen. Um sich dem 'normalen' Leben zu entziehen, lässt sich Julie regelmäßig in ihre psychiatrische Wunschklinik einweisen. Hier kennt man sie, hier weiß man, wie sie tickt. Dass Julie ohne Gummihandschuhe nicht aus dem Haus geht, oder notfalls auch mal ein Lama aus dem Zoo auf einen Rave entführt, wundert niemanden mehr. Man lässt sie in Ruhe. Das ändert sich schlagartig, als sie erfährt, dass ihr Erbe aufgebraucht ist und Agnes (Luisa-Céline Gaffron) in ihr Leben tritt, eine vermeintlich naive Krankenschwester und ihre neue Betreuerin, die stets bemüht ist, alles richtig zu machen. Um stillstehen zu können, muss man sich bewegen. 'Stillstehen' (2019) von Elisa Mishto (drehte zuvor den Kurzfilm 'Emma and the Fury' 2017) ist ein poetisches, witziges und radikales Porträt einer Generation, die nichts zu verlieren und nichts zu gewinnen hat. In den Hauptrollen zu sehen sind Natalia Belitski (aus 'Parfum', 'In Zeiten des abnehmenden Lichts', 'Vaterfreuden') als Julie und die aufstrebende Newcomerin Luisa-Céline Gaffron als Krankenschwester Agnes. Perfekt abgerundet wird das Ensemble durch den italienischen Schauspieler Giuseppe Battiston ('Brot und Rosen') sowie u.a. Katharina Schüttler ('Oh Boy', 'Zeit der Kannibalen'), Martin Wuttke ('Colonia Dignidad - Es gibt kein Zurück', 'A Most Wanted Man'), Leslie Malton ('3 Zimmer, Küche, Bad', 'Renn, wenn du kannst') und Jürgen Vogel ('Der Mann aus dem Eis', 'Die Wellte') in einer besonderen Gastrolle. Für den Sound des Filmes sorgt Sascha Ring ('Apparat & Moderat'), einer der prägendsten Protagonisten der elektronischen Musik in Deutschland. 'Stillstehen' ist ein Film über eine Generation, die nicht weiß wo sie steht und wo sie hin soll, aber auch eine Ode an das Leben und den bittersüßen Geschmack von Freiheit. She just wants to stand still. In order to escape 'normal' life, Julie is regularly admitted to her psychiatric clinic of choice. Here you know her, here you know what makes her tick. No one is surprised anymore that Julie doesn't leave the house without rubber gloves, or, if necessary, even kidnaps a llama from the zoo for a rave. They are left alone. This changes abruptly when she learns that her inheritance has been used up and Agnes (Luisa-Céline Gaffron) enters her life, a supposedly naïve nurse and her new caregiver who is always trying to do everything right. Julie quickly realizes that her previous perfect idleness is on the brink. She makes a momentous decision: In order to continue to stand still, she has to move...
To be able to stand still, you have to move. 'Standstill' (2019) by Elisa Mishto (previously directed the short film 'Emma and the Fury' in 2017) is a poetic, witty and radical portrait of a generation that has nothing to lose and nothing to gain. The leading roles are played by Natalia Belitski (from 'Perfume', 'In Times of Diminishing Light', 'Father's Joys') as Julie and the up-and-coming newcomer Luisa-Céline Gaffron as nurse Agnes. The ensemble is perfectly rounded off by the Italian actor Giuseppe Battiston ('Bread and Roses') as well as Katharina Schüttler ('Oh Boy', 'Time of the Cannibals'), Martin Wuttke ('Colonia Dignidad', 'A Most Wanted Man'), Leslie Malton ('3 Rooms, Kitchen, Bathroom', 'Run, If You Can') and Jürgen Vogel ('The Iceman', 'The Wave') in a special guest role. The sound of the film is provided by Sascha Ring ('Apparat & Moderat'), one of the most influential protagonists of electronic music in Germany. 'Stand Still' is a film about a generation that doesn't know where it stands and where it should go, but also an ode to life and the bittersweet taste of freedom.
