Eigentlich könnte Lolas (Tabea Hanstein) Welt ziemlich in Ordnung sein. Sie ist elf Jahre alt und lebt mit ihrer Mutter Loretta (Christiane Paul) auf dem alten aber wunderschönen Hausboot 'Erbse'. Doch seit sich ihr Vater vor zwei Jahren in Luft aufgelöst hat, ist Lola immer mehr zur Außenseiterin geworden. Ständig gibt es Ärger. Zu allem Überfluss passiert dann auch noch das Unfassbare: ihre Mutter hat einen neuen Freund. Er heißt Kurt (Tobias Oertel), ist Tierarzt und dummerweise ziemlich nett. Aber einen Papa kann man nicht einfach auswechseln und so tut Lola alles, um die beiden auseinander zu bringen. Außer dem alten Kapitän Solmsen (Olaf Krätke) hat Lola niemanden, dem sie sich anvertrauen kann, bis eines Tages Rebin (Arturo Perea Bigwood) in ihre Klasse kommt. Der Neue ist ziemlich verschlossen und geht den anderen Schülern auch lieber aus dem Weg, was Lola gut verstehen kann. Komisch ist nur, dass Rebins Familie sehr ängstlich ist und er nach der Schule heimlich arbeiten gehen muss. Dennoch freunden sich die beiden an. Als Rebins Mutter schwer erkrankt, werden die Dinge kompliziert und Lola findet heraus, dass Rebin ein dunkles Geheimnis hat...
Regisseur Thomas Heinemann gelingt mit 'Lola auf der Erbse' (2014) ein märchenhaftes und gleichsam authentisches Abenteuer, das wichtige Probleme von Kindern und Erwachsenen anspricht. Lolas Lebenswelt ist ganz real, zeigt jedoch wie viel Fantasie und Magie das ganz alltägliche Leben bereit hält. Heinemann erzählt in wundervollen Bildern mit großer Liebe zum Detail und viel Humor die spannende Geschichte von Lola, die um ihre Familie und ihren besten Freund kämpft. Lolas Welt ist fantasievoll und eigen, aber auch zerbrechlich. Doch sie findet den Mut, sich ihren Problemen entgegen zu stellen und für die Menschen, die ihr wichtig sind, einzustehen.
In der Rolle von Lolas Mutter, der lebenslustigen Loretta Lachmann, ist Publikumsliebling Christiane Paul (u.a. 'Das Leben ist eine Baustelle' 1997, 'Im Juli' 2000, 'Das Adlon' 2012, 'Eltern' 2013) zu sehen. Ihr neuer Freund, der bei Lola zunächst keinen leichten Stand hat, wird von Tobias Oertel ('Die Sturmflut' 2005, 'Mann tut was Mann kann' 2012) gespielt. Antoine Monot Jr. ('Absolute Giganten' 1999, 'Kaiserschmarrn' 2012) hat die Rolle des fiesen Nachbarn Herrn Barkelt übernommen.

Actually, Lola's (Tabea Hanstein) world could be pretty much in order. She is eleven years old and lives with her mother Loretta (Christiane Paul) on the old but beautiful houseboat 'Erbse'. But since her father disappeared into thin air two years ago, Lola has become more and more of an outsider. There is always trouble. To make matters worse, the inconceivable happens: her mother has a new boyfriend. His name is Kurt (Tobias Oertel), he is a veterinarian and unfortunately quite nice. But you can't just change a dad and so Lola does everything she can to break them up. Apart from the old captain Solmsen (Olaf Krätke), Lola has no one to confide in until one day Rebin (Arturo Perea Bigwood) comes to her class. The new one is quite withdrawn and prefers to avoid the other students, which Lola can understand well. The only funny thing is that Rebin's family is very anxious and he has to go to work secretly after school. Nevertheless, the two become friends. When Rebin's mother falls seriously ill, things get complicated and Lola finds out that Rebin has a dark secret...
With 'Lola auf der Erbse' (2014), director Thomas Heinemann succeeds in creating a fairytale-like and at the same time authentic adventure that addresses important problems of children and adults. Lola's world is very real, but shows how much fantasy and magic everyday life has in store. Heinemann tells the exciting story of Lola, who fights for her family and her best friend, in wonderful pictures with great attention to detail and a lot of humour. Lola's world is imaginative and unique, but also fragile. But she finds the courage to face her problems and stand up for the people who are important to her.
In the role of Lola's mother, the fun-loving Loretta Lachmann, audience favourite Christiane Paul (e.g. 'Life is a Construction Site' 1997, 'Im Juli' 2000, 'Das Adlon' 2012, 'Eltern' 2013) can be seen. Her new boyfriend, who doesn't have an easy time with Lola at first, is played by Tobias Oertel ('Die Sturmflut' 2005, 'Mann tut was Mann kann' 2012). Antoine Monot Jr. ('Absolute Giganten' 1999, 'Kaiserschmarrn' 2012) has taken on the role of the nasty neighbor Mr. Barkelt.
