'Nothing Personal' erzählt von einer jungen Holländerin, die ihr Leben hinter sich lässt. Nur mit einem Rucksack und ein paar elementaren Gegenständen wie Zelt und Schlafsack bricht sie nach Irland auf und wandert dort in völliger Einsamkeit durch die Wildnis. Nur gelegentlich bedient sie sich des Autostops, doch diese Begegnungen sind ihr verhasst, denn sie will nur ihre Ruhe haben und sich die Menschen so weit als möglich vom Leib halten. Doch dann wird sie eines Morgens vom etwas älteren, gebildeten Eigenbrötler Martin (Stephen Rea) angesprochen, der ihr Essen anbietet, wenn sie ihm im Garten helfe. Anne (Lotte Verbeek) stimmt zu, doch als es beim Abendessen zum Streit kommt, will sie wieder abhauen. Schliesslich machen sie einen Handel: Essen für Arbeit, kein persönlicher Kontakt, keine Fragen. So kommen die beiden langsam in einen Trott hinein und arrangieren sich miteinander. Martin erklärt ihr die Arbeit, sie führt sie aus und er versorgt sie mit Mahlzeiten, welche er ihr jeweils bereit stellt, da sie nicht gemeinsam essen. Doch obwohl sie nur das nötigste miteinander sprechen, beginnen sich die Schutzmauern langsam abzubauen und sie lernen sich schrittweise etwas kennen. Doch wird sich Anne darauf einlassen, wird sie wieder sesshaft werden oder macht sie vielleicht vorher ihren Abgang?

'Nothing Personal' tells the story of a young Dutch woman who leaves her life behind. With only a backpack and a few elementary items such as a tent and sleeping bag, she sets off for Ireland and hikes through the wilderness in complete solitude. She only occasionally uses the hitchhike, but she hates these encounters, because she just wants to have her peace and quiet and keep people away from her as much as possible. But then one morning she is approached by the somewhat older, educated loner Martin (Stephen Rea), who offers her food if she helps him in the garden. Anne (Lotte Verbeek) agrees, but when it comes to an argument at dinner, she wants to run away again. After all, they make a deal: food for work, no personal contact, no questions. So the two slowly get into a rut and come to terms with each other. Martin explains the work to her, she carries it out and he provides her with meals, which he always provides for her, as they do not eat together. But although they only talk to each other about the bare minimum, the protective walls slowly begin to dismantle and they gradually get to know each other a bit. But will Anne get involved, will she settle down again or will she perhaps leave before then?
