Im Geheimen gedreht und von den iranischen Behörden verboten, zeigt uns dieser Film nie gesehene, hypnotisierende Bilder aus der Unterwelt Teherans, wo Verzweiflung und Rebellion sich die Hand geben. Teheran bei Nacht: Aus einem fahrenden Auto stülpt sich eine Frau aus dem Seitenfenster, zieht sich das Kopftuch herab und brüllt ein kräftiges, lautes, erschütterndes "Fuck You!" in die schlafende Stadt. Es ist der einzige Moment von Freiheit und Lust, den Regisseur Ali Ahmadzadeh seinen Filmfiguren gönnt. Der Film ist ein Blick auf die Perspektiv- und Hoffnungslosigkeit der jungen Generation im Iran, die zwar international orientiert leben möchte, aber unter dem Mullah-Regime in fremdbestimmter Schockstarre vor sich hin existiert. Der Führer durch diese traurige, immer müde Welt ist Amir, ein Drogendealer. Wir sehen ihn, wie er zu Hause präzise und ruhig wie ein Apotheker seine Drogen sortiert und in kleine Döschen und Päckchen verpackt. Dann setzt er sich ins Auto und fährt nachts durch die Stadt zu seinen Kunden, denen er mit seinen halluzinogenen Mitteln ein wenig Erleichterung verschafft. Seine Kunden sind jung, verzweifelt, voller Ängste und Hemmungen. Keiner traut sich, von einer besseren Zukunft zu träumen. Amirs Drogen betäuben ihren Schmerz, aber mehr auch nicht...

A look at the lack of perspective and hopelessness of the young Iranian generation: 'Critical Zone' is a film about resistance in hopeless times, which captures the spirit of a young Iranian generation and in the process becomes an expression of protest itself. Shot in secret and banned by the Iranian authorities, this film shows us never-before-seen, mesmerizing images from the underworld of Tehran, where despair and rebellion shake hands. Tehran at night: A woman slips out of a moving car out of the side window, pulls down her headscarf and roars a strong, loud, harrowing "Fuck You!" into the sleeping city. It is the only moment of freedom and pleasure that director Ali Ahmadzadeh allows his film characters. The film is a look at the lack of prospects and hopelessness of the young generation in Iran, which wants to live an internationally oriented life, but exists under the mullah regime in an externally determined state of shock. The guide through this sad, always tired world is Amir, a drug dealer. We see him at home sorting his drugs precisely and calmly like a pharmacist and packing them into small tins and packets. Then he gets into the car and drives through the city at night to his customers, whom he gives a little relief with his hallucinogenic remedies. His customers are young, desperate, full of fears and inhibitions. No one dares to dream of a better future. Amir's drugs numb her pain, but nothing more...
