1755 tobt in Nordamerika ein blutiger Krieg. Die sechs Stämme der Irokesen kämpfen mit den Engländer gegen die feindlichen Franzosen um die Vorherschaft. Joseph Brandt (Eric Schweig), ein junger indianischer Krieger, und der Engländer Sir William Johnson (Pierce Brosnan), der Beauftragte des englischen Königs George II., ziehen mit ihren Truppen in die grausame Schlacht bei Fort Carillon. Doch die Franzosen sind stärker als vermutet. Viele tapfere Soldaten müssen ihr Leben lassen. Sieglos kehren die Krieger nach Hause. Johnson, der Josephs Qualitäten als großen Krieger und Führer erkannt hat, schickt ihn in eine englische Schule, die sein Leben für immer verändern wird. Zurück in seiner Heimat, muss Joseph erkennen, dass die weißen Siedler immer mehr ins Land strömen und die Indianer aus ihren Gebieten verdrängen. Er muss etwas unternehmen, damit sein Volk überleben kann.
In 1755, a bloody war rages in North America. The six tribes of the Iroquois fight with the English against the hostile French for supremacy. Joseph Brandt (Eric Schweig), a young Indian warrior, and the Englishman Sir William Johnson (Pierce Brosnan), the representative of the English King George II, go with their troops into the cruel battle of Fort Carillon. But the French are stronger than expected. Many brave soldiers have to lose their lives. The warriors return home winless. Johnson, recognizing Joseph's qualities as a great warrior and leader, sends him to an English school that will change his life forever. Back in his homeland, Joseph has to realize that the white settlers are pouring more and more into the country and pushing the Indians out of their territories. He has to do something so that his people can survive.
