Inspiriert von Filmen wie 'God's Own Country' und 'Brokeback Mountain' erzählt 'Elefant' (2022) von der ersten Liebe und Selbstwerdung eines jungen schwulen Mannes inmitten einer rauen, aber atemberaubend schönen Landschaft. Regisseur Kamil Krawczycki hat den Film an Originalschauplätzen in seiner Heimat am Fuße des Tatra-Gebirges gedreht. Ein leidenschaftlicher Film, der Mut und Hoffnung macht. Krawczycki über seinen Film: "In meinem Film kehre ich in meine Heimatstadt im Süden Polens zurück. Es ist eine Region mit einer atemberaubenden Natur, aber für Schwule und Lesben ist es ziemlich schwer, dort zu leben. Der Film erzählt die Geschichte von einem jungen Mann, der zum Oberhaupt der Familie wird, nachdem sein Vater abgehauen ist und die Mutter eine Art Zusammenbruch hatte. Die Verpflichtungen innerhalb der Familie engen seine Freiheit ein, sein eigentliches Begehren muss er verbergen. Ich wollte eine Figur zeichnen, die verletzlich und stark zugleich ist. Ich weiß, dass sich viele queere Menschen in Polen damit identifizieren können. Mit dieser Geschichte möchte ich Ihnen meinen Tribut zollen und ihnen ein wenig Hoffnung geben, denn Hoffnung können wir in Polen gerade sehr gut gebrauchen können." Biografie: Krawczycki (Buch & Regie) wurde 1990 in 'Zakopane' geboren. Er studierte an der Filmhochschule in Warschau und der 'Wajda School'. Nach den zwei Kurzfilmen 'The End of my World' und 'The Last One' sowie diversen Musikvideos ist 'Slon - Elefant' sein Langfilmdebüt. In seinem Film wirft er den Blick auf Figuren, die in der polnischen Gesellschaft allzu oft den Rand gedrückt werden.

Inspired by films such as 'God's Own Country' and 'Brokeback Mountain', 'Elephant' (2022) tells the story of a young gay man's first love and self-development in the midst of a rugged but breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Director Kamil Krawczycki shot the film at original locations in his homeland at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. A passionate film that gives courage and hope. Krawczycki about his film: "In my film, I return to my hometown in the south of Poland. It is a region with stunning nature, but it is quite hard for gays and lesbians to live there. The film tells the story of a young man who becomes the head of the family after his father runs away and his mother has a kind of breakdown. The obligations within the family restrict his freedom, he has to hide his real desires. I wanted to draw a character who is vulnerable and strong at the same time. I know that many queer people in Poland can identify with it. With this story, I would like to pay tribute to you and give you a little hope, because we can use hope very well in Poland right now." Biography: Krawczycki (writer & director) was born in 1990 in 'Zakopane'. He studied at the Film School in Warsaw and the 'Wajda School'.
