Jeden Morgen bereitet Krilli die unzähligen Zutaten für die Hummersuppe im 'Bryggjan Café' zu, einem winzigen Restaurant in Islands entspanntester Stadt 'Grindavík'. Seine Frau hilft ihm in der Küche und sehnt sich danach, nach 'Reykjavík' zurückzukehren. Im Café sitzt Krillis Bruder Alli mit den alten Fischern, dem letzten Boxer Islands und dem Übersetzer von 'Don Quijote' ins Isländische. Jeden Tag finden sie eine neue Antwort auf die Probleme der Welt. Einmal im Monat treffen sich die Nachbarn im 'Bryggjan Café', um sich an die in 'Grindavík' Verstorbenen zu erinnern und ihre Namen auszusprechen. Vier verrückte Musiker spielen Jazz. Einige verlorene Touristen tauchen am Fischereihafen auf und sind von der Atmosphäre des Cafés fasziniert. Echte Leute, denken sie. Ein toller Ort. Auf der anderen Seite des Berges befindet sich die 'Blaue Lagune', die große Attraktion der Insel. Menschen aus aller Welt sind fasziniert von den Vulkanen, dem Gletscher und der Geschichte von der Entstehung der Erde. Aber jetzt scheinen der Berg, die Touristen und das Lavafeld die ganze Stadt zunehmend in Richtung Meer zu treiben...

Every morning, Krilli prepares the countless ingredients for the lobster soup at 'Bryggjan Café', a tiny restaurant in Iceland's most laid-back town 'Grindavík'. His wife helps him in the kitchen and longs to return to 'Reykjavík'. Krilli's brother Alli sits in the café with the old fishermen, the last boxer in Iceland and the translator of 'Don Quixote' into Icelandic. Every day they find a new answer to the world's problems. Once a month, the neighbours meet in the 'Bryggjan Café' to remember the deceased in 'Grindavík' and to pronounce their names. Four crazy musicians play jazz. Some lost tourists show up at the fishing port and are fascinated by the atmosphere of the café. Real people, they think. A great place. On the other side of the mountain is the 'Blue Lagoon', the island's big attraction. People from all over the world are fascinated by the volcanoes, the glacier and the history of the formation of the earth. But now the mountain, the tourists and the lava field seem to be driving the whole city increasingly towards the sea...
