'Tommaso' (2019) is the most personal film by master director Abel Ferrara. With the character Tommaso, played by acting legend Willem Dafoe, he has created a fascinating alter ego that tells of the abysses and hopes of a new masculinity as if in a magnifying glass. Ferrara stages his story about the restless artistic spirit and his endless search for identity in the Italian capital, thus creating his own homage to Fellini's work. Ferrara's imagery, which is still innovative even after years, does not shy away from the clash of different shooting formats. This creates a highly exciting and intimate atmosphere and a terrific (home) cinema experience.
