"What's gone is gone! That won't happen again!" says Andreas energetically. He has lived in the Esso houses in St. Pauli since 1988. These have become a symbol of a process of repression that is taking place everywhere. In their long-term documentary, filmmakers Irene Bude, Olaf Sobczak and Jörg Steffen accompany the struggle of the residents of the Esso houses and their supporters against the demolition. They have filmed numerous demonstrations, subversive actions and brush mobs, documented district assemblies and captured insights into lovingly furnished living rooms - right down to packing the moving boxes. The struggle makes the houses known beyond Hamburg, because they stand for something that is taking place in many places: gentrification and resistance to it.
