Parisian policewoman Marie Lamare (Henriette Richter-Röhl) is shot and barely survives. This incident changes her life and leads her back to her roots, which are in Brittany. All the threads come together on the rough, rugged coast of the Atlantic - the fate of two families eternally linked by love, hate, jealousy and greed: A catastrophe changes the happy life of Parisian policewoman Marie Lamare from one moment to the next. She is just on her way back to the police station when she and her colleague Jean see a car racing through the city. They take up the chase and force the driver to stop. When Jean wants to see the young man's papers, the situation escalates. Without warning, the driver pulls out the pistol and shoots at the two. When he hits Marie on the shoulder, she returns fire. Seconds later, it's all over. Hubert Polin, the driver of the car, and her colleague Jean are dead. Marie falls to the ground and loses consciousness. The first witness to arrive at the scene of the accident is the young archaeology professor Paul Racine (Johannes Zirner), who is celebrating his birthday with a few friends. He immediately provides first aid to the injured Marie and has no idea what role this woman will play in his life. Their paths cross again in Brittany, where Marie recovers from the events and Paul takes on a new job. When the policewoman, who is on leave, discovers that Paul unexpectedly stumbles upon a secret during his research into the history of the menhirs and dolmens, it changes her life and that of her father Michel, whom she met for the first time after her serious accident.
