Den schmalen Jungen, der da in seiner Schuluniform die Schulbank drückt, beschäftigen vor allem zwei Dinge: das freche Mädchen, das schräg vor ihm sitzt, und die neue Buzzcocks-Single, die frisch gepresst im Laden auf ihn wartet. Was er noch nicht ahnt, das ist, wie das begehrte Vinyl umgehend den Vorwand für einen ersten Nachmittag zu zweit liefern wird. ('Love you more' von Sam Taylor-Wood). 'Sexy Things' heißt das Programm aus neun kurzen Filmen, das - so man sich nicht seinen eigenen DVD-Parcours zusammenstellt - von diesen beiden Produktionen eröffnet wird. Neun Arbeiten, Überraschungen nicht ausgeschlossen, viele davon preisgekrönt, die sich der körperlichen Liebe, ihren Folgen und Nebenwirkungen ganz unterschiedlich annähern. Alle mehr oder weniger narrativ, stehen sie innerhalb dieses Feldes zugleich für eine große Bandbreite an Formen und Zugängen und für die Vielfalt dessen, was mit 'Kurzfilm' immer unscharf bezeichnet bleibt: elliptische Erzählungen, tagebuchartige Skizzen, eigenwilliges Ausstattungskino, Found Footage oder performative Arbeiten - und nicht nur in den Bildern, auch in Bezug auf den Ton hat man es dabei jeweils mit ganz spezifischen Setzungen zu tun.

'Sexy Things' is the name of the programme of nine short films, which - if you don't put together your own DVD course - will be opened by these two productions. Nine works, surprises not excluded, many of them award-winning, which approach physical love, its consequences and side effects in very different ways. All more or less narrative, within this field they stand for a wide range of forms and approaches and for the diversity of what always remains vaguely referred to as 'short film': elliptical narratives, diary-like sketches, idiosyncratic set cinema, found footage or performative works - and not only in the images, but also in terms of sound, one is dealing with very specific settings in each case.
