Entweder ist das Gras grüner, oder die Häuser sind höher, oder die Sonne ist wärmer! Warschau 1988. Jerzy will in den Westen. Sein Ziel ist Amerika. Aber sein Geld reicht erst einmal nur für Berlin. Dort trifft er Ewa wieder, die er an seinem letzten Tag in Polen kennen gelernt hat. Die beiden kommen sich näher. Sie nehmen alle Jobs an und haben wenig Zeit für einander. Dennoch gibt es einige Momente des Glücks, bis Ewa verschwindet, ohne eine Adresse zu hinterlassen...
'Überall ist es besser wo wir nicht sind' erschien als sechster Film in der Edition 'Debütfilme' des Labels 'Filmgalerie 451'. Regisseur Michael Klier über seinen Film: "Ich habe, wie der Hauptdarsteller meines Debutfilms, am Anfang in Westberlin gelebt. Völlig provisorisch, aber voller Enthusiasmus und Abenteuerlust. Das war der Motor für diesen amerikanischen Traum, diese Energie. Das ist auch das Interessante daran, nicht der Traum, sondern die Energie, die dieser Traum freisetzt, selbst, wenn er nur noch Illusion ist."

Either the grass is greener, or the houses are higher, or the sun is warmer! Warsaw 1988. Jerzy wants to go to the West. His destination is America. But his money is only enough for Berlin for the time being. There he meets Ewa again, whom he met on his last day in Poland. The two get closer. They take all jobs and have little time for each other. Nevertheless, there are some moments of happiness until Ewa disappears without leaving an address...
'It's better everywhere where we aren't' was released as the sixth film in the 'Debut Films' edition of the label 'Filmgalerie 451'. Director Michael Klier about his film: "Like the main actor in my debut film, I lived in West Berlin at the beginning. Completely provisional, but full of enthusiasm and a thirst for adventure. That was the engine for this American dream, this energy. That's also the interesting thing about it, not the dream, but the energy that this dream releases, even if it is only an illusion."
