Hochsommer an der Côte d’Azur, ein Haus mit Pool und Meerblick. Eigentlich soll der sechzehnjährige Enzo (Eloy Pohu) die Schule beenden und studieren, wie es sich gehört. Doch im stillen Protest gegen die eigene Bourgeoisie fängt er auf einer Baustelle an, zum Missfallen seiner Familie. Aber auch sein neuer Boss ist unzufrieden mit Enzo, weil dieser selbst mit den einfachsten handwerklichen Aufgaben Probleme bekommt. Viel wohler fühlt sich der Junge bei seinem älteren Kollegen Vlad (Maksym Slivinskyi) aus der Ukraine, der Enzo gerne Fotos seiner weiblichen Eroberungen auf dem Telefon zeigt. Der Arbeiter wird das männliche Vorbild, das dem behüteten Wohlstandskind vielleicht immer gefehlt hat, doch noch ganz andere Gefühle kommen zum Vorschein und machen alles komplizierter...
Wer bin ich, wenn ich nirgendwo wirklich zuhause bin? Die sonnengetränkten und sehnsuchtsvollen Bilder eines südeuropäischen Sommers erinnern fern an 'Call Me By Your Name', doch 'Enzo' (2025) wirft dabei einen von Grund auf ehrlichen Blick auf den Versuch eines Erwachsenwerdens, mit allem jugendlichen Unbehagen, das dazugehört: gegenüber der eigenen Identität, den eigenen Gefühlen, dem eigenen politischen Bewusstsein. Einfache Antworten geben und brauchen die Figuren in 'Enzo' nicht, dazu sind sie zu komplex, zu echt - so wie man es kennt, von Regisseur Laurent Cantet ('Die Klasse'), der das Drehbuch schrieb, aber starb, bevor er den Film vollenden konnte. Die Regie übernahm schließlich sein langjähriger Filmpartner und Freund Robin Campillo ('120 BPM'). 2025 eröffnete der Film mit Eloy Pohu als Enzo, Élodie Bouchez als Marion und Pierfrancesco Favino als Paolo die Sektion 'Quinzine des Cinéastes' in Cannes. Der bundesweite Kinostart in Deutschland ist am 2. April 2026 erreicht.

Who am I if I'm not really at home anywhere? The sun-drenched and wistful images of a southern European summer are vaguely reminiscent of 'Call Me By Your Name', but 'Enzo' (2025) takes a fundamentally honest look at the attempt to grow up, with all the youthful discomfort that goes with it: towards one's own identity, one's own feelings, one's own political consciousness. The characters in 'Enzo' don't give and don't need simple answers, they are too complex, too real - as we know it, from director Laurent Cantet ('The Class'), who wrote the screenplay but died before he could complete the film. The director was finally his long-time film partner and friend Robin Campillo ('120 BPM'). In 2025, the film opened the 'Quinzine des Cinéastes' section in Cannes with Eloy Pohu as Enzo, Élodie Bouchez as Marion and Pierfrancesco Favino as Paolo. The nationwide theatrical release in Germany will be reached on April 2, 2026.
