Thomas Hoepker ist einer der bedeutendsten Fotografen weltweit. Seine Bilder wurden zu Ikonen des Fotojournalismus, wie 'Muhammad Ali's Fist'. Er war der erste Deutsche, der als Vollmitglied bei der legendären Fotoagentur 'Magnum' aufgenommen und diese später als ihr ehrenamtlicher Präsident leitete. 2017 wurde bei Hoepker 'Alzheimer' diagnostiziert. Der Mann, dessen Werk ins kollektive Gedächtnis überging, verliert nun langsam seine eigenen Erinnerungen. Entstanden ist eine persönliche und hoch emotionale Reise in einer historischen Zeit zwischen Pandemie und Präsidentenwahl.

The man whose work has entered the collective memory is now slowly losing his own memories. A stroke of fate, however, which he wants to consciously oppose, with a lot of humor and eagerness to work. His last big dream is a road trip through the USA together with his wife Christine. In the documentary 'Dear Memories' (2022) by Nahuel Lopez, Thomas Hoepker wants to use his camera to once again explore the heart of the United States, the country that has been his adopted home for over forty years. The result is a personal and highly emotional journey in a historic time between the pandemic and the presidential election.
