August 1928. Der sowjetische Fabrikarbeiter Ljowuschka (Aleksandre Koberidze) wird als Trotzki-Darsteller für den Film 'Oktober' des Regisseurs Sergei Eisenstein (Anton Gonopolski) gecastet. Doch seine Träume vom Künstlerleben platzen, als der echte Trotzki bei Stalin in Ungnade fällt und er aus dem Film herausgeschnitten wird. So flieht der romantische Träumer aus der kommunistischen Heimat und will sein Glück in Hollywood versuchen. Noch steckt er allerdings in einem mondänen deutschen Ostseebad fest, wo er als verfolgter Aristokrat verkleidet das Geld für die Überfahrt nach New York zusammenstehlen will. Bei einem seiner Streifzüge lernt er die junge Fabrikbesitzerin Octavia Flambow-Jansen (Lilith Stangenberg) kennen, die die Sommermonate mit ihrem tölpelhaften Diener Jakob (Alexander Herbst) am Meer verbringt. Die exzentrische Millionärin interessiert sich für den geheimnisvollen Flüchtling und bietet ihm Unterschlupf in ihrem luxuriösen Herrenhaus. Schnell fliegt seine Tarnung auf, und noch schneller hat er sich in seine schillernde Gastgeberin verliebt - sehr zum Verdruss des literarisch ambitionierten Jakob, der ebenfalls für die Chefin schwärmt. Eine sommerliche Romanze bahnt sich an, dumm nur, dass in der Gegend Vampire ihr Unwesen treiben. Und noch dümmer, dass Octavia selbst ein Blutsauger ist...
'Blutsauger - Eine marxistische Vampirkomödie' (2021), Julian Radlmaiers Folgefilm nach 'Selbstkritik eines buergerlichen Hundes' (2017), erlebte seine Weltpremiere bei der 71. Berlinale 2021 im Wettbewerb 'Encounters'. Schon vorab wurde das Drehbuch mit dem Deutschen-Drehbuch-Filmpreis 2019 ausgezeichnet.

August 1928. The Soviet factory worker Lyovushka (Aleksandre Koberidze) is cast as a Trotsky actor in the film 'October' by director Sergei Eisenstein (Anton Gonopolski). But his dreams of an artist's life are shattered when the real Trotsky falls out of favor with Stalin and he is cut out of the film. So the romantic dreamer flees his communist homeland and wants to try his luck in Hollywood. However, he is still stuck in a sophisticated German Baltic Sea resort, where he wants to steal the money for the crossing to New York disguised as a persecuted aristocrat. During one of his forays he meets the young factory owner Octavia Flambow-Jansen (Lilith Stangenberg), who spends the summer months by the sea with her clumsy servant Jakob (Alexander Herbst). The eccentric millionaire is interested in the mysterious refugee and offers him shelter in her luxurious mansion. His cover is quickly blown, and he has fallen in love with his dazzling hostess even faster - much to the chagrin of the literarily ambitious Jakob, who also has a crush on the boss. A summer romance is brewing, but it's just a shame that vampires are up to mischief in the area. And even more stupid that Octavia himself is a bloodsucker...
'Bloodsuckers - A Marxist Vampire Comedy' (2021), Julian Radlmaier's follow-up film to 'Self-Criticism of a Bourgeois Dog' (2017), had its world premiere at the 71st Berlinale 2021 in the competition 'Encounters'. The screenplay was already awarded the German Screenplay Film Award 2019.
