'Sankt Peter', ein kleines Dorf im Baden-Württemberg in den frühen 1950er Jahren. Maria (Svenja Jung) und Gregor (Merlin Rose) sind Geschwister und die Kinder des Bacherbauern. Ihr Vater (Thomas Sarbacher) wünscht sich, dass Gregor, sein einziger Sohn, einmal den Hof übernimmt. Doch der hat einen ganz anderen Traum: Er will an der künftig am Dorf vorbeiführenden Bundesstraße eine Tankstelle errichten. Dazu braucht er aber die finanzielle Hilfe des Vaters. Obwohl Maria zu vermitteln versucht, können die Männer ihren Streit lange nicht beilegen. Schließlich lenkt der Vater ein. Er ist bereit, seinen Sohn zu unterstützen, wenn Maria bald heiratet und so für eine ordentliche Fortführung des Familienhofs sorgt. Das Ultimatum stellt die Geschwister vor die wichtigste Entscheidung ihres Lebens. Denn die beiden verknüpft ein besonderes Band...
Regisseur Peter Evers, der für sein Drehbuch zum Film mit dem renommierten Thomas-Strittmatter-Preis ausgezeichnet wurde, erzählt in 'A Gschicht über d'Lieb' (2019) von einem leidenschaftlichen Geschwisterpaar, das gegen die Normen ihrer vermeintlich heilen Welt aufbegehrt. Sein Film, der in und um 'Schwäbisch Hall' gedreht wurde, zeigt eine trügerische Idylle süddeutschen Landlebens, die zugleich von strikten Traditionen, harter Arbeit und persönlichen Entbehrungen geprägt ist. He is willing to support his son if Maria marries soon and thus ensures the proper continuation of the family farm. Director Peter Evers, who was awarded the prestigious Thomas Strittmatter Prize for his screenplay for the film, tells the story of a passionate pair of siblings who rebel against the norms of their supposedly ideal world in 'A Gschicht über d'Lieb' (2019). His film, which was shot in and around 'Schwäbisch Hall', shows a deceptive idyll of southern German rural life, which is at the same time characterized by strict traditions, hard work and personal deprivation. A touching love film that manages without any homeland kitsch and in which Svenja Jung (see also 'The Middle of the World') and Merlin Rose (from 'Als wir träumten' or 'Aus der Haut', among others) shine two of Germany's most promising young actors.
