Volume 1: Die Kadetten des 73. Jahrgangs der Militärakademie auf dem Planeten Kibi stehen kurz vorm Abschluss ihrer Ausbildung. Auf einer ihrer letzten Übungsflüge auf dem Wachschiff Amaterasu ereilt sie die Nachricht, dass das Bündnis der benachbarten Planeten von Henrietta, besser bekannt als 'Das Königreich', der Nation des Planeten Kibi den Krieg erklärt hat. Während die Regierung Kibis ob der Aggressivität und militärischen Überlegenheit des Königreiches ohne zu zögern kapituliert, wollen sich die Kadetten nicht kampflos ergeben. Mit der finanziellen Unterstützung des TV-Senders Galaxy Network begeben sich die Kadetten auf der Amaterasu in den Kampf gegen das Königreich. Doch Galaxy Network verlangt auch eine Gegenleistung für ihre Geldspritze: Wie in einer Reality Show wird jede Aktion und Handlung der jungen Militärs im intergalaktischen Fernsehen übertragen. Nicht gerade zu ihrem Vorteil, denn der Feind schaut mit.
Volume 2: Mit dem Anflug der 'Amaterasu' auf den Planeten Shu versuchen die Kadetten einen weiteren Verbündeten im Kampf gegen 'Das Königreich' für sich zu gewinnen. Während Mamiya, der ehemalige Ministerpräsident Kibis, die Regierung von Shu um politische Unterstützung bittet, ist mittlerweile die Live-Übertragung der Kampfhandlungen der Amaterasu gegen 'Das Königreich' zur beliebtesten TV-Show im Weltall avanciert. Doch so richtig können sich die Kadetten mit Ihrem neuen Berühmtheitsstatus nicht anfreunden, denn ihr strategischer Ausflug auf den Planeten Shu erweist sich schwieriger als erwartet. Eine revolutionäre Gruppe erprobt nämlich zur selben Zeit den Aufstand gegen die Regierung von Shu und versucht die Crew der Amaterasu in ihre Belange einzubinden.
Volume 3: Durch eine intrigante politische Kampagne gelingt es dem Königreich, die planetarischen Staaten, die bislang das Vorhaben der Amaterasu unterstützten, auf ihre Seite zu bringen. Sogar der Hauptsponsor der Amaterasu, der Fernsehsender Galaxy Network, kündigt den Vertrag mit den Kadetten auf. Mit ihrem durch die vielen Kämpfe mittlerweile schwer beschädigten Wachschiff Amaterasu und ohne jeglichen Nachschub an Munition und Proviant stehen die Kadetten kurz vor der Aufgabe. Die Allianz der Erde versucht im letzten Moment zwischen den beiden Parteien zu schlichten, um ein größeres Blutvergießen zu vermeiden. Doch die Crew der Amaterasu will sich nicht kampflos ergeben und bereitet sich für ein finales Showdown gegen die fünf Elite-Raumschiffe des Königreichs vor.

Volume 1: The cadets of the 73rd cohort of the Military Academy on the planet Kibi are about to complete their training. On one of her last training flights on the guard ship Amaterasu, she receives the news that the alliance of the neighboring planets of Henrietta, better known as 'The Kingdom', has declared war on the nation of the planet Kibi. While Kibi's government capitulates without hesitation because of the aggressiveness and military superiority of the kingdom, the Cadets do not want to surrender without a fight. With the financial support of the TV station Galaxy Network, the cadets on the Amaterasu go into battle against the kingdom. But Galaxy Network also demands something in return for their cash injection: Like in a reality show, every action and action of the young military is broadcast on intergalactic television. Not exactly to their advantage, because the enemy is watching.
Volume 2: With the approach of the 'Amaterasu' to the planet Shu, the cadets try to win over another ally in the fight against 'The Kingdom'. While Mamiya, the former Prime Minister Kibis, is asking the government of Shu for political support, the live broadcast of the Amaterasu fights against 'The Kingdom' has become the most popular TV show in space. But the cadets can't really get used to their new celebrity status, because their strategic trip to the planet Shu proves to be more difficult than expected. At the same time, a revolutionary group is rehearsing the uprising against the government of Shu and tries to involve the crew of the Amaterasu in their affairs.
Volume 3: Through an intriguing political campaign, the kingdom succeeds in bringing the planetary states that have so far supported the Amaterasu project to their side. Even the main sponsor of the Amaterasu, the television station Galaxy Network, terminates the contract with the cadets. With their guard ship Amaterasu, which has been badly damaged by the many fighting, and without any supply of ammunition and provisions, the cadets are about to give up. The Alliance of Earth tries to mediate between the two parties at the last moment to avoid major bloodshed. But the crew of the Amaterasu does not want to surrender without a fight and prepares for a final showdown against the five elite starships of the kingdom.
