Start unserer Shaanxi-Rundreise ist die Provinzhauptstadt 'Xi'an', eine Stadt voller Gegensätze. Von hier aus wurde China vor 2.000 Jahren vereint, hier steht mit der 1.400 Jahre alten Wildganzpagode ein buddhistisches Pilgerzentrum, doch die Tempel des modernen Xi'an sind Kaufhauspaläste aus Glas und Stahl. Ganz anders das Dorf 'Dangjia'. Vor 500 Jahren wurde es komplett nach den Regeln des 'Feng Shui' erbaut. Alles blieb bis zum heutigen Tag erhalten und wird sorgfältig gepflegt. So offenbart sich Danggjia normalen Touristen als chinesisches Bilderbuchdorf für Feng-Shui-Begeisterte, jedoch ist es ein lebendiges Studienzentrum dieser Baukunst. Doch 'Voyages-Voyages' zeigt auch das sich wandelnde China: Vor der Höhlenwohnung Mao Zedongs in Yan'an zelebrieren junge Chinesen den 'Großen Vorsitzenden' heute als Pop-Idol. Das alte Xi'an wird zur Hightech-Metropole der Wolkenkratzer. Aus Garküchen werden Luxusrestaurants mit den besten Köstlichkeiten des Landes.

The wisdom of the East in ancient monasteries, a beauty contest in a luxury hotel, the library of 2,000 stone books, climbing the Sacred Mountains and the terracotta army of the first emperor of China: nowhere can you get to know China's past and present better than in the province of 'Shaanxi', the heart of China. The start of our Shaanxi round trip is the provincial capital 'Xi'an', a city full of contrasts. China was united from here 2,000 years ago, here stands the 1,400-year-old Wildganzpagoda, a Buddhist pilgrimage center, but the temples of modern Xi'an are department store palaces made of glass and steel. The village of 'Dangjia' is completely different. 500 years ago, it was built entirely according to the rules of 'Feng Shui'. Everything has been preserved to this day and is carefully maintained. Thus, Danggjia reveals itself to normal tourists as a Chinese picture-book village for Feng Shui enthusiasts, but it is a lively study center of this architecture. But 'Voyages-Voyages' also shows the changing China: In front of Mao Zedong's cave dwelling in Yan'an, young Chinese today celebrate the 'Great Chairman' as a pop idol. Old Xi'an is becoming a high-tech metropolis of skyscrapers. Food stalls become luxury restaurants with the best delicacies in the country.
