Ägyptens beliebtester Schauspieler George Fahmy (Fares Fares) fällt über Nacht in Ungnade. Am Rande des Ruins ist er zwischen Suzanne (Zineb Triki) und Dr. Mansour (Amr Waked) gezwungen, ein Angebot anzunehmen, das er nicht ablehnen kann. Als 'Pharao der Leinwand' förmlich vergöttert, liegt dem smarten Schauspieler George Fahmy ganz Ägypten zu Füßen. Wegen seines weltlichen Auftretens fällt er jedoch eines Tages bei Behörden und Bevölkerung in Missgunst. Zu verlockend sind die Reize der jungen Frauen, zu süß das mondäne Leben im pulsierenden Kairo. Widerwillig übernimmt er daher die Hauptrolle in einem staatlich finanzierten Propagandafilm, der von dem rätselhaften Regierungsbeamten Dr. Mansour mit Adlersaugen überwacht wird. Der Politthriller 'Eagles of the Republic' (2025) mit Fares Fares (bekannt aus 'Jalla! Jalla!' und den Jussi Adler-Olsen Filmen 'Erbarmen', 'Schändung', 'Erlösung', 'Verachtung') als George Fahmy feierte im Wettbewerb des Filmfestivals von Cannes 2025 seine Premiere und bildet nach 'Die Nile Hilton Affäre' (2017) und 'Die Kairo Verschwörung' (2022) den Abschluss der gefeierten Kairo-Trilogie von Regisseur Tarik Saleh ('Metropia'), beim Kinostart in Deutschland am 21. Egypt's most popular actor George Fahmy (Fares Fares) falls from grace overnight. On the brink of ruin, he is forced between Suzanne (Zineb Triki) and Dr. Mansour (Amr Waked) to accept an offer he cannot refuse.
