Die majestätische Architektur des Tempels von Angkor, eines der Weltwunder? Oder die vertraute und doch so fremde urbane Infrastruktur der thailändischen Hauptstadt Bangkok mit seinen 18 Millionen Einwohnern bei Nacht? 'Destination Earth - Images from South-East Asia' kann eine Antwort bieten. Die Macher der TV-Formate 'Space Night - Earth Views und 'Flowmotion' führen die so erfolgreichen Konzepte auf einer anderen Ebene konsequent weiter. Man könnte es etwas hochtrabend ein touristisches 'Dokutainment' mit Geschmack nennen, doch zum Glück wird hier auf jedweden erhobenen Zeigefinger oder belehrenden Off-Kommentar verzichtet. 'Destination Earth' will nichts anderes als den Zauber dieser Welt vor Augen führen und vertraut dabei auf die Kraft der Bilder im Zusammenspiel mit zwölf handerlesenen musikalischen Ambient- und Chillout-Meisterwerken.

You always become painfully aware of this when you want to explain the magic of music to your counterpart in words - and the linguistic discomfort becomes even greater when describing distant countries. How do you explain the magic of the sunrise over the pagoda-strewn valley of Bagan to another person? The spiritually charged atmosphere in the temple of Swedagon in Ragoon, illuminated by thousands of oil lamps? The loneliness of the fisherman on Inle Lake? The majestic architecture of the temple of Angkor, one of the wonders of the world? Or the familiar and yet so foreign urban infrastructure of the Thai capital Bangkok with its 18 million inhabitants at night? 'Destination Earth - Images from South-East Asia' can offer an answer. The creators of the TV formats 'Space Night - Earth Views' and 'Flowmotion' are consistently taking the successful concepts on another level. One could call it a somewhat pompous tourist 'docutainment' with taste, but fortunately there is no wagging finger or instructive off-commentary here. 'Destination Earth' wants to show nothing more than the magic of this world and trusts in the power of images in combination with twelve hand-picked musical ambient and chillout masterpieces.
