Die holländische Hardrock-Band Golden Earring hatte schon alle Höhen und Tiefen durchgemacht und ihre Standfestigkeit bewiesen, als sie 1982 im Rockpalast spielte. Gegründet in den 1960er Jahren hatte sie 1974 mit „Radar Love“ einen Megahit. Davon gibt es inzwischen mehr als 200 Cover-Versionen, auch von so berühmten Größen der Musikbranche wie „U2“, „R.E.M.“ und „Bryan Adams“. „Radar Love“ machte das Album „Moontan“ (1974) zu einem Riesenerfolg. Golden Earring tourten vor allem in Holland, Belgien und Deutschland und waren die erste Band des europäischen Kontinents, die auch ausgedehnte Tourneen in den USA absolvierte. „Twilight Zone“ wurde 1982 der zweite große Single-Hit der Gruppe und knüpfte mit dem berühmten hypnotischen Riff an die magische Stimmung von „Radar Love“ an. Kaum eine andere Band, der dies nach so langer Zeit gelang - und die noch heute, über 20 Jahre später, in ihrer ursprünglichen Besetzung besteht! 1982 in den Kölner „Sartory-Sälen“ hatten die Hardrocker Golden Earring auch wieder sanftere Töne im Repertoire - immer dann, wenn Sänger Barry Hay die Flöte ansetzte. Dann waren Balladen angesagt. Und auch George Kooymans war mehr daran gelegen, gute Songs zu schreiben als „die schnellste Gitarre im Wilden Westen“ zu spielen. Diese DVD enthält das Rockpalast-Konzert in voller Länge, natürlich mit „Radar Love“ und „Twilight Zone“.

The Dutch hard rock band Golden Earring had already gone through all the ups and downs and proved their steadfastness when they played at the Rockpalast in 1982. Founded in the 1960s, they had a megahit in 1974 with "Radar Love". There are now more than 200 cover versions of it, including from such famous greats of the music industry as "U2", "R.E.M." and "Bryan Adams". "Radar Love" made the album "Moontan" (1974) a huge success. Golden Earring toured mainly in Holland, Belgium and Germany and were the first band on the European continent to also complete extensive tours in the USA. "Twilight Zone" became the group's second big single hit in 1982 and tied in with the magical mood of "Radar Love" with the famous hypnotic riff. Hardly any other band that managed to do this after such a long time - and which still exists today, over 20 years later, in its original line-up! In 1982 in the Cologne "Sartory-Sälen" the hard rockers Golden Earring also had softer sounds in their repertoire again - always when singer Barry Hay put on the flute. Then ballads were announced. And George Kooymans was also more interested in writing good songs than playing "the fastest guitar in the Wild West". This DVD contains the Rockpalast concert in full length, of course with "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone".
