Fabienne Berthaud (siehe auch hier im Verleihprogramm ihre vorangegangenen Spielfilme 'Barfuß auf Nacktschnecken' von 2010 und 'Sky - Der Himmel in mir' 2015) verfilmte mit dem Kinostar Cécile de France (u.a. aus 'L'Auberge Espagnole') die wahre Geschichte von Corine Sombrun, die diese im Buch 'Mein Leben mit den Schamanen' verarbeitete. Nach ihrer Ausbildung in der Mongolei arbeitet Sombrun heute mit Neurologen und Gehirnforschern zusammen, um die mentalen Mechanismen hinter den Trancezuständen zu verstehen und z. B. für therapeutische Zwecke zu nutzen. 'Eine größere Welt' alias 'Un monde plus grand' (2019) ist in Frankreich zu einem Kinoerfolg avanciert und kommt am 9. Juli 2020 auch in die deutschen Kinos. A bigger world - that's what Corine (Cécile de France) discovers when she falls into a trance during a shamanic ritual in Mongolia. The Frenchwoman had only come to the remote steppe region to collect ethnographic sound recordings as part of her work. But the shaman Oyun (Tserendarizav Dashnyam) reveals to Corine that she has a rare gift that needs to be trained. Back in France, the experiences in Mongolia do not let go of Corine. Despite the resistance of her family, she returns to the steppe and embarks on a spiritual journey on old and forgotten paths. Fabienne Berthaud (see also here in the distribution program her previous feature films 'Barefoot on Nudibranchs' from 2010 and 'Sky - Heaven in Me' 2015) filmed the true story of Corine Sombrun with the cinema star Cécile de France (from 'L'Auberge Espagnole', among others), which she processed in the book 'My Life with the Shamans'. After her training in Mongolia, Sombrun now works with neurologists and brain researchers to understand the mental mechanisms behind trance states and use them for therapeutic purposes, for example. 'A Bigger World' aka 'Un monde plus grand' (2019) has become a box office success in France and will also be released in German cinemas on July 9, 2020. "In Fabienne Berthaud's exotic, soothing and highly impactful film, Cécile de France shines in the role of a broken-hearted woman who discovers her shamanic talents," said Cineuropa.
