Es ist eine ganz andere Welt, hier morgens am Strand zu flanieren, nachmittags über den Market zu schlendern und abends auf der Kalakaua Avenue das pulsierende Leben Waikikis zu erleben. Riesige Wellen am Sandy Beach fordern täglich alle Altersklassen zum Surfen heraus. Allein das Zuschauen ist atemberaubend, wenn die Surfer elegant durch die sechs Meter hohen Wellen gleiten. Honolulu ist untrennbar mit Pearl Harbor und dem Pazifik-Krieg verbunden. Jede Insel hat ihre besonderen Schönheiten. Während auf Maui sehr viele jüngere Leute sind, finden sich in Kaua'i viele, die lieber etwas mehr Ruhe haben wollen. Auf Big Island treffen Sie die Entdeckertypen, die in Vulkankratern herumkraxeln und in Hubschraubern über die brodelnden Krater fliegen. In Lana'i werden Sie vielen Reichen begegnen, während auf Moloka'i kaum Touristen zu finden sind. Sehr viele Einheimische vermitteln hier noch den Eindruck eines polynesischen Urzeiterlebnisses.

There are more than a hundred uninhabited atolls and eight large islands. A friendly 'Aloha' sounds to all strangers, who are greeted by a fragrant wreath of flowers on arrival. Honolulu, the capital of the state of Hawaii, is located on the island of O'ahu. The 800,000 inhabitants of this island already make up 75% of the total population of all the islands combined. After a 20-minute drive along the highway, you'll arrive in Waikiki. It's a completely different world to stroll along the beach in the morning, stroll through the market in the afternoon and experience the vibrant life of Waikiki on Kalakaua Avenue in the evening. Huge waves on Sandy Beach challenge all ages to surf every day. Just watching the surfers glide elegantly through the six-metre-high waves is breathtaking. Honolulu is inextricably linked to Pearl Harbor and the Pacific War. Each island has its special beauties. While there are a lot of younger people on Maui, there are many in Kaua'i who prefer to have a little more peace and quiet. On the Big Island, you'll meet the explorer types who scramble around in volcanic craters and fly over the bubbling craters in helicopters. In Lana'i you will meet many rich people, while on Moloka'i there are hardly any tourists. Many locals still give the impression of a Polynesian prehistoric experience.
