He wanted to become a good ski instructor, but fortunate circumstances led him to rallying. Walter Röhrl started a rally for the first time in 1968 with a 'Fiat 850 Coupé'. The beginning of a steep career full of ups and downs. His constant urge for perfectionism drove the Regensburg native from victory to victory. With his co-drivers Jochen Berger and Christian Geisdörfer, he celebrated spectacular successes in Ford, Opel, Lancia and Audi. He won the Monte Carlo Rally four times, won the world championship title in 1980 and 1982, conquered the technology at the limit in the S1, conquered Pikes Peak and was also successful on the circuit. No one sacrificed himself so unconditionally to the fight for seconds and racing lines. Even after the end of his unprecedented career, he remains loyal to rallying and takes part in historic rally events.
