"La Scala di Seta"
Seit 1952 ziehen die Schwetzinger Festspiele regelmäßig Tausende von Musikfreunden in ihren Bann. Der Aufführungsort, das intime Ambiente eines Rokokotheaters, bietet auch den idealen Schauplatz für Rossinis kleine "farse", ein turbulentes Liebesdrama, das durch eine perlende Leichtigkeit und geistvolle Melancholie besticht. Während "La Scala di seta" zunächst noch sehr umstritten war - die Stimmen reichen von enthusiastischem Beifall bis hin zu harscher Kritik - hat es sich mit der kritischen Neuausgabe durch die Fondazione Rossini in Pesaro, die unter Einbeziehung des in Schweden zufällig wiederentdeckten Autographs entstand, inzwischen seinen verdienten Platz auf den Opernbühnen der Welt erobert. Die witzig-ironische Umsetzung der musikalischen Komödie durch Michael Hampe fand bereits auf den Festspielen begeisterte Zustimmung und setzt einen Meilenstein in der noch jungen Rossini-Videographie.

Since 1952, the Schwetzingen Festival has regularly captivated thousands of music lovers. The venue, the intimate ambience of a rococo theatre, also offers the ideal setting for Rossini's little "farse", a turbulent love drama that captivates with its sparkling lightness and witty melancholy. While "La Scala di seta" was initially very controversial - the voices range from enthusiastic applause to harsh criticism - it has now conquered its deserved place on the opera stages of the world with the critical new edition by the Fondazione Rossini in Pesaro, which was created with the inclusion of the autograph manuscript that was accidentally rediscovered in Sweden. The witty and ironic adaptation of the musical comedy by Michael Hampe has already met with enthusiastic approval at the Festival and sets a milestone in Rossini's still young videography.
