Der engagierte Fotojournalist Sam Hunter (Cyril O'Reilly) fliegt ins südamerikanische 'San Pedro', um den Revolutionär Marcos für ein Interview aufzuspüren. Marcos plant den Sturz des brutalen Militärregimes unter dem Diktator Mendoza (F. Murray Abraham). Auf seiner gefährlichen Reise durch die Berge begegnet Sam der aufregenden Ärztin Dr. Luisa Suarez (Patricia Velasquez), die sich aufopfernd um die verarmten Bergbauern kümmert. Sam lässt sich auf seinem Weg nicht aufhalten, selbst als Mendoza seine Todesschwadron auf ihn hetzt. Schließlich gelingt es ihm, Marcos zu finden und die Hintergründe der Revolution zu recherchieren. Doch plötzlich kommt alles auf einmal - die Revolution bricht aus und ein gigantischer Vulkan spuckt Lava und Asche. Sam muss unbedingt einen Weg aus dem Land finden, um die exklusiven Fotos auf die Titelseiten der Weltpresse zu bringen.

The dedicated photojournalist Sam Hunter (Cyril O'Reilly) flies to the South American 'San Pedro' to track down the revolutionary Marcos for an interview. Marcos plans to overthrow the brutal military regime under the dictator Mendoza (F. Murray Abraham). On his dangerous journey through the mountains, Sam meets the exciting doctor Dr. Luisa Suarez (Patricia Velasquez), who selflessly cares for the impoverished mountain farmers. Sam doesn't let himself be stopped on his way, even when Mendoza sets his death squad on him. Finally, he succeeds in finding Marcos and researching the background to the revolution. But suddenly everything comes at once - the revolution breaks out and a gigantic volcano spews lava and ash. Sam is desperate to find a way out of the country to get the exclusive photos on the front pages of the world's press.
