Ricky Nelson startete seine musikalische Karriere bereits als Kind mit seiner Familie in der Radio- und später TV-Show seiner Eltern Ozzie und Harriet Nelson. Die beiden waren in den 30er und 40er Jahren bekannte Entertainer und traten mit ihrer eigenen Bigband auf. Schnell entwickelte sich der junge Ricky zum Prototyp des Teenager-Idols. Mit 17 Jahren nahm er seine erste Single auf: 'I'm Walking' von Fats Domino. Der Song wurde ein Hit und lieferte den Startschuss für eine Rock'n'Roll-Karriere, die über drei Jahrzehnte andauerte. Dieser erste Erfolg darf natürlich auf der DVD nicht fehlen. Ebenso wie der Hit 'Hello Mary Lou', der 1961 Platz 2 der deutschen und britischen Singlecharts belegte sowie die Charterfolge 'Fools Rush In', 'It's Late' und 'Poor Little Fool'. Auch ein Mitschnitt von 'Travelin' Man', der in den USA sogar zur Nummer Eins wurde, ist auf der DVD zu sehen und zu hören - und viele bekannte Songs des US-Sängers, der 1985 im Alter von 45 Jahren bei einem Flugzeugabsturz ums Leben kam.

Of course, this first success should not be missing on the DVD. As well as the hit 'Hello Mary Lou', which reached number 2 in the German and British singles charts in 1961, as well as the chart successes 'Fools Rush In', 'It's Late' and 'Poor Little Fool'. A recording of 'Travelin' Man', which even became number one in the USA, can also be seen and heard on the DVD - and many well-known songs by the US singer, who died in a plane crash in 1985 at the age of 45.
