Madonnas 'The Immaculate Collection' ist die eine Sammlung von Musikvideos, die man im Prinzip haben muss - dabei spielt es zunächst auch keine Rolle, wie man nun zu Madonna und ihrer Musik steht. Denn sie bietet viel mehr als nur einen Überblick über die Clips, die Madonna in den Jahren von 1984 bis 1990 gedreht hat. In dieser Phase ist eben nicht nur aus der New Yorker Sängerin einer der größten Pop-Stars aller Zeiten geworden, in ihr hat sich auch der Videoclip als eigenständige Form für immer verändert. Aus relativ einfachen Inszenierungen von Musikern, die in nicht näher definierten Räumen ihre Songs spielen und dazu vielleicht noch tanzen, sind zum Teil Millionen teure kleine Filme geworden - eine Entwicklung, die gerade auch von Madonna vorangetrieben wurde und deren Geschichte 'The Immaculate Collection' erzählt.

Madonna's 'The Immaculate Collection' is the one collection of music videos that you basically have to have - it doesn't matter how you feel about Madonna and her music. Because it offers much more than just an overview of the clips Madonna shot in the years from 1984 to 1990. In this phase, not only has the New York singer become one of the biggest pop stars of all time, but the video clip has also changed forever as an independent form. Relatively simple productions of musicians who play their songs in undefined rooms and perhaps dance to them have sometimes become small films costing millions - a development that was also driven by Madonna and whose story is told in 'The Immaculate Collection'.
