1985 startete Sting, der seit jeher die Genregrenzen der Popmusik für sich selbst definierte anstatt sich durch diese einengen zu lassen, seine erste Solotour mit einer Band aus profilierten Jazzmusikern. Zwanzig Jahre danach erscheint zum ersten Mal der Film 'Bring On The Night' in digital aufpoliertem Sound und verbesserter Bildqualität auf DVD. Parallel dazu gibt es auch die Audio Aufnahmen in remasterter Qualität erneut auf CD. Auch zwanzig Jahre nach der Erstveröffentlichung sind Film und Videos ein Genuss. Die Vielseitigkeit des Künstlers Sting und seiner Musik sind ebenso faszinierend wie die Art und Weise, mit der Michael Apted diese inszeniert. Dabei wird die Grenze zwischen Musik und Film so manches Mal verwischt bzw. ganz neu definiert. Dafür gab es dann auch einen Grammy für das beste Musicvideo (Langformat). Außerdem staubte Sting für das Studioalbum noch einen Grammy als bester Sänger ab.

In 1985, Sting, who has always defined the genre boundaries of pop music for himself instead of being restricted by them, started his first solo tour with a band of distinguished jazz musicians. Twenty years later, the film 'Bring On The Night' is released on DVD for the first time in digitally polished sound and improved picture quality. At the same time, the audio recordings are also available in remastered quality on CD. Even twenty years after the first release, the film and videos are still a pleasure. The versatility of the artist Sting and his music is just as fascinating as the way in which Michael Apted stages it.
