Dies sind die Worte mit denen Sully Erna, der Frontmann der Band, ihr zweites Album 'Awake' beschrieb. Das neue Album soll im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger 'Godsmack' noch rauer, agressiver und lauter klingen. Der Erfolg der ersten Platte hat natürlich Maßstäbe gesetzt: dreifach Platin für das Album, Hit-Single Whatever 33 Wochen lang in den Billboard Top 10 und Chartplatzierungen in den Active-Rock-Charts. Kaum zu glauben, dass sie anfangs ihr Debüt 'All Wound Up' aus dem Auto heraus verkauften. Doch das war bevor sie einen Vertrag mit 'Universal' unterschrieben, die die Platte als 'Godsmack' mit ein paar zusätzlichen Tracks neu veröffentlichten und den Weg in den Rockhimmel ebneten. Ebenfalls im Jahr 2000 steuerten sie den Song 'Time Bomb' zum Soundtrack des Box-Office-Hits 'Scream 3' bei. Die Erfolgsgeschichte wird hier mit der DVD 'Godsmack - Live' weitergeschrieben. Die Bostoner Band kehrt zurück in heimatliche Gefilde, um ein powergeladenes Konzert abzuliefern. Sie werden als Könige der Alternative-Metal-Szene bezeichnet und in dem Konzert explodieren sie gleich mehrmals mit Songs wie 'Whatever', 'Keep Away', 'Vodoo' und 'Bad Religion'.

In contrast to its predecessor 'Godsmack', the new album is supposed to sound even rougher, more aggressive and louder. The success of the first record has of course set standards: triple platinum for the album, hit single Whatever in the Billboard Top 10 for 33 weeks and chart placements in the Active Rock charts. It's hard to believe that they initially sold their debut 'All Wound Up' out of the car. But that was before they signed a contract with 'Universal', who re-released the record as 'Godsmack' with a few additional tracks and paved the way to rock heaven. Also in 2000, they contributed the song 'Time Bomb' to the soundtrack of the box office hit 'Scream 3'. The success story continues here with the DVD 'Godsmack - Live'. The Boston band returns home to deliver a power-packed concert. They are called kings of the alternative metal scene and in the concert they explode several times with songs like 'Whatever', 'Keep Away', 'Vodoo' and 'Bad Religion'.
