Legendär, weltberühmt und unvergleichlich: Der Unitel-Klassik-DVD-Katalog jetzt auf 'Deutsche Grammophon'. Unter dem bis heute für die 'Unitel' stehenden Motto 'Music to Watch' entstand 1964 unter Leo Kirch und Herbert von Karajan die Vorläuferin der 'Unitel'. Seitdem umfasst das Repertoire mehr als 600 Stunden Musik, mehr als 50 Stunden wurden allein mit Karajan aufgenommen. Die Produktionen von 'Unitel' spiegeln eine Zeit wieder, die so nie wieder kommen wird: Opernfilme wurden mit einem Budget von 5 bis 10 Millionen Euro und stets mit hochkarätiger Besetzung produziert. Unter den Künstlern finden sich Namen wie Plácido Domingo, Mirella Freni, Grace Bumbry, Claudio Abbado, Carlos Kleiber, Sir George Solti und Leonard Bernstein, dessen 20-jähriger Exklusiv-Vertrag 'Unitel' 120 Stunden Musik beschert hat. Die 'Deutsche Grammophon' erwarb die Lizenzen an den bedeutendsten Aufnahmen des legendären Klassik DVD-Katalogs und wird in den nächsten 4 Jahren 115 Titel daraus veröffentlichen. Im März startet die Reihe der Veröffentlichungen aus dem UNITEL-Katalog mit 10 Titeln. Die Highlights dieser 10 Veröffentlichungen gibt es jetzt auf 'Music to Watch'. Vergleichbar mit dem Selected-Classics-Sampler ist diese Zusammenstellung das wichtigste Promotiontool zur Einführung der insgesamt bis Jahresende rund 50 Titel umfassenden Reihe von Unitel-Veröffentlichungen auf 'Deutsche Grammophon'. Highlights sind die Aufnahmen mit zwei überragenden Tenören der Operngeschichte: Plácido Domingo, zu sehen und hören in Puccinis 'Tosca' und 'Cavalleria rusticana' sowie Jon Vickers, weltberühmt für seine Maßstäbe setzende Interpretation des Otellos, auf dem Höhepunkt seiner stimmlichen Pracht in Verdis 'Otello' und Bizets 'Carmen'. Legendary, world-famous and incomparable: The Unitel Klassik DVD catalogue now available on 'Deutsche Grammophon'. Under the motto 'Music to Watch', which still stands for 'Unitel' today, the forerunner of 'Unitel' was created in 1964 under Leo Kirch and Herbert von Karajan. Since then, the repertoire has included more than 600 hours of music, with more than 50 hours recorded with Karajan alone. The productions of 'Unitel' reflect a time that will never come again: opera films were produced with a budget of 5 to 10 million euros and always with a top-class cast. Among the artists are names such as Plácido Domingo, Mirella Freni, Grace Bumbry, Claudio Abbado, Carlos Kleiber, Sir George Solti and Leonard Bernstein, whose 20-year exclusive contract has given 'Unitel' 120 hours of music. Deutsche Grammophon has acquired the licenses to the most important recordings in the legendary Klassik DVD catalogue and will release 115 titles from them over the next 4 years. In March, the series of publications from the UNITEL catalogue will start with 10 titles. The highlights of these 10 releases are now available on 'Music to Watch'. Comparable to the Selected Classics sampler, this compilation is the most important promotional tool for the introduction of the series of Unitel releases on 'Deutsche Grammophon', which will comprise a total of around 50 titles by the end of the year.
