"Europe Concert from Prague"
For 15 years now, the Berliner Philharmoniker have been making annual guest appearances at changing European locations of particular cultural and historical significance in order to commemorate their founding date, 1 May 1882, with a European concert. In the Mozart Year 2006, the journey led to Prague: Here the brilliant composer celebrated his greatest triumphs, where he was loved and understood without reservation. Of course, the Berliner Philharmoniker played in the famous Estates Theatre at their Prague concert and sat on stage in a replica of the premiere set of "Don Giovanni". Daniel Bairenboim, who has just been awarded the "Echo Klassik 2006" as "Conductor of the Year", has an artistic partnership with the orchestra for more than 40 years. As a bonus, this DVD offers a cinematic cultural portrait of the city of Prague.
