Die achtjährige Karo trifft die Trennung ihrer Eltern mitten ins Herz. Sie zieht mit ihrer Mutter in ein Zinshaus. Den geliebten Vater sieht sie nur noch am Wochenende. Bei der Übersiedelung geht eines ihrer beiden Walkie-Talkies im Stiegenhaus verloren. Karo beklagt sich via Walkie-Talkie über ihre verzweifelte Situation beim Lieben Gott. Da vernimmt sie plötzlich eine ungehaltene Stimme, die sich schließlich als Gott ausgibt. Karo will das nicht glauben und verlangt einen Beweis. Gott liefert ihn unfreiwillig. Als sie wenig später 'Gott' zu Gesicht bekommt, einen verwahrlosten Mann mit Alkoholfahne, der im selben Haus wohnt, ist sie einigermaßen erstaunt. Mit ihrem Ziel vor Augen, ihre Eltern wieder zusammen zu führen, sieht sie aber über alles hinweg und klammert sich an den Mann, der seinen weinseligen Scherz mit dem Kind mehr als bereut. Bald ist er in Karos sorgenvolle Welt hineingezogen und kann gar nicht anders als seine Rolle zu spielen. Er, der von dieser Welt nichts mehr wissen wollte, soll diese nun erschaffen haben und sie erklären. Karo erkennt schnell, dass seine Göttlichkeit nicht in seiner Allmacht liegt, sondern in seiner aufkeimenden Bereitschaft sich auf sie und ihre Probleme einzulassen. Aufkeimende Hoffnung und schwere Rückschläge wechseln einander im gemeinsamen Vorhaben ab. Das Auf und Ab der Gefühle mündet schließlich in einer Freundschaft zwischen Karo und Gott – zwei Charaktere, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Am Ende ist Karo an ihrem verpassten Ziel gewachsen und hat für ihr Leben nicht nur neue Freunde gefunden, sondern auch eine neue Perspektive.

Eight-year-old Karo is hit right in the heart by the separation of her parents. She moves into an apartment building with her mother. She only sees her beloved father on weekends. During the move, one of her two walkie-talkies is lost in the stairwell. Karo complains via walkie-talkie about her desperate situation with the Good Lord. Then she suddenly hears an indignant voice that finally pretends to be God. Karo doesn't want to believe this and demands proof. God provides it involuntarily. When she sees 'God' a little later, a neglected man with a flag of alcohol who lives in the same house, she is somewhat astonished. With her goal in mind to bring her parents back together, however, she overlooks everything and clings to the man, who more than regrets his wine-filled joke with the child. Soon he is drawn into Karo's worried world and cannot help but play his role. He, who no longer wanted to know anything about this world, is now said to have created it and explained it. Karo quickly realizes that his divinity does not lie in his omnipotence, but in his burgeoning willingness to get involved with her and her problems. Budding hope and serious setbacks alternate in the common project. The ups and downs of emotions finally lead to a friendship between Karo and God – two characters that could not be more different. In the end, Karo has grown at her missed goal and has not only made new friends for her life, but also a new perspective.
